Rhine Valley, Kamp-Bornhofen Live Cam

The Rhine takes one of its sharpest bends at Boppard, and the webcam looks across the water at the town from Kamp-Bornhofen on the opposite bank. The feed comes from Villa Gast on the riverfront.

The slope inside that bend is the Bopparder Hamm, the largest single vineyard on the Middle Rhine. It faces south across the river and grows Riesling on slate, which holds the day's heat well into the night.

Two castles stand in the woods above this bank, Sterrenberg and Liebenstein, close enough together to have collected a legend about feuding brothers and the wall raised between them. The gorge from Bingen down to Koblenz became a UNESCO site in 2002, and the barges below are on one of the busiest inland waterways in Europe.
