Santa Claus Office Live Cam

Santa Claus keeps an office in Rovaniemi that is open all year, and the webcam covers the room where visitors meet him. The village stands eight kilometres north of the town, in Finnish Lapland.

The place began with a single cabin, put up in 1950 for a visit by Eleanor Roosevelt. The Arctic Circle passes through the site and is painted on the ground; everything else grew around those two facts.

Rovaniemi itself was burned in 1944 and rebuilt to a plan by Alvar Aalto, whose street layout traces the head and antlers of a reindeer. The sun stays below the horizon here for a couple of weeks around the winter solstice and does not set at all for a month in summer.
