Melbourne Skyline Live Cam

Central Melbourne stretches west from this webcam, set high above the Yarra River in Victoria, Australia. The lit sign of the Crown complex on Southbank sits in the foreground, and the street grid runs out towards Port Phillip Bay.

The blocks below the lens are the western end of the central business district, where the river bends past the convention centre and the docklands. The regular pattern of lights follows the Hoddle Grid, the survey plan the city has been built on since 1837.

Night is when this view works best: the grid reads clearly and the bay shows as a dark edge behind it. In daylight the same frame is mostly rooftops, with haze or low cloud often sitting over the western suburbs.
