Live Cams in Fukui

Fukui, Japan

Fukui is the capital of Fukui Prefecture, a city of about 250,000 people on the Fukui Plain, crossed by the Kuzuryu River and reaching west to the Sea of Japan. It grew from Kitanosho, the castle town of Shibata Katsuie, and the prefectural offices stand on the site of Fukui Castle. Rebuilt after the 1945 air raid and the 1948 earthquake, the city took the phoenix as its symbol. The Ichijodani ruins of the Asakura clan's town lie in a valley to the southeast, and since 2024 the Hokuriku Shinkansen has linked Fukui with Tokyo.
