Waxhaw Town Live Cam

Waxhaw sits close to the South Carolina line south of Charlotte, and this view comes from a tower above the North Carolina town. Roofs, a gravel lot and the main commercial block fill most of the camera picture.

The town grew along the railway between Charlotte and Monroe, and the tracks still run through the middle of it under a road bridge that arches over the crossing. The old storefronts on either side hold antique dealers and restaurants.

The surrounding district, the Waxhaws, is named for the people who lived here before European settlement and is one of two places claiming the birth of Andrew Jackson. The Carolinas have never settled which side of the line it was on.
