Town of Smithfield Live Cam

Market Street runs through the middle of Smithfield, North Carolina, and the camera looks down it from the town hall. The Neuse River passes a couple of blocks behind the shopfronts.

Ava Gardner grew up on a farm outside the town and is buried in the cemetery here. The museum a few doors along this street began as the collection of a man who met her once as a child and spent the rest of his life gathering her things.

The centre kept its Classical Revival and Art Deco fronts largely because nothing came along to replace them, and the district is now listed. Interstate 95 passes on the edge of town, which is where most of the through traffic is going.
