Weather and time
This fixed camera looks down Main Street at its crossing with 10th Avenue in the town of Forsyth, Montana. An auto parts store stands on the left and the Roxy Theatre with its Pepsi mural on the right.
Forsyth, the seat of Rosebud County, lies on the south bank of the Yellowstone River, and the county courthouse stands a few blocks east on this street. The town began in 1876 as a steamboat landing and grew around the Northern Pacific Railway after 1882. The railway still runs parallel to Main Street, and its yard lies right behind the auto parts store.
The camera sits high on a rooftop at the corner, so the view drops onto hatched crosswalks, a stop sign and the cross street leading left toward the tracks. Main Street continues past the theatre into the distance, and a ridge of dark pines with a tall mast closes the horizon on the left.
