A bar and swimming lagoon fill the picture at Grassy Key, part of Marathon in the middle of the Florida Keys. The webcam looks over the tables and the palms.
The lagoon is dug rather than natural, filled with sea water and edged with imported sand, which is the usual way of getting a swimmable beach in the Keys: the natural shoreline here is rock and mangrove.
The island next door holds a dolphin research centre that started with animals used in a film in the 1960s and turned into a working laboratory. It has been on Grassy Key ever since.
