SUU Library & Quad, Utah Live Cam

The library and quad of Southern Utah University fill the picture at Cedar City, in the south-west of the state. The webcam looks across the lawn at the façade.

The school exists because the town built it. When the state agreed to a college here in 1897 on condition that a building be ready in a year, residents hauled timber down from the mountain through the winter on sledges to make the deadline.

Five national parks lie within a couple of hours of the campus, which is where the university gets its nickname. The town also runs a Shakespeare festival that has been going since 1962 and performs in a reconstructed open-air theatre.
