Madeira Island Airport Spotting Live Cam

The apron at Madeira airport fills this view at Santa Cruz, about 13 kilometres from Funchal, in Portugal. An aircraft stands at the terminal with ground crew working around it, and the overlay carries the current weather report.
Half of the runway here rests on a deck carried by concrete columns above the slope, an extension finished in 2000 that doubled its usable length. The approach is known among crews for the wind that comes off the mountains, and landings are flown in a curve towards the threshold rather than straight in.
When the crosswind is out of limits, flights hold or divert to Porto Santo or the mainland, and the apron in view empties. The stream is run by a group of plane spotters at the field.
