Southern Ring Road near Europaplein, Groningen Live Cam

This camera looks south-west from a tall office building beside Europaplein along the sunken Southern Ring Road in Groningen. Multi-lane carriageways run between grassy slopes, with a car park and trees in the right foreground.

Known in Dutch as the Zuidelijke Ringweg, the road runs for about twelve kilometres from Hoogkerk to Westerbroek, passing south of the city centre. Between the Julianaplein and the Europaweg it was lowered into a cutting during works that began in 2017, and it reopened to traffic in September 2024. Covered sections now link the neighbourhoods on either side.

Close to the camera, white hatched markings separate a side lane from the main carriageway. Further on, the lanes vanish under the covered section between the Oosterpoort and De Linie districts, with office blocks beyond the far embankment.
