5th Avenue, Playa del Carmen Live Cam

Quinta Avenida, the pedestrian street running the length of central Playa del Carmen in Mexico, lies under this webcam. It stands above roof level, so shopfronts, palms and a thatched palapa roof fill the near part of the frame.

The avenue runs parallel to the beach one block inland and carries most of the town's shops, bars and restaurants along some twenty blocks. The ferry pier for Cozumel is a few minutes' walk east, which is why the southern end of the street stays busy from early morning.

Foot traffic builds through the evening and the street is lit until late. Seen from this height the low colonial-style facades stand out against the taller hotel blocks behind them.
