Lions, Riga National Zoological Garden Live Cam

Four webcams cover the lion enclosure at Riga Zoo in the Latvian capital, and the stream cycles between them. The outdoor pen has sand, dead wood and a stone shelter, and the pride moves between the shade and the fence line.

The zoo opened in 1912 and is the oldest in the Baltic states, covering about twenty hectares on the western shore of Lake Ķīšezers in the Mežaparks district. The lion enclosure was built with support from the Latvian environmental protection fund and has both indoor and outdoor sections, which is why the views switch.

Lions sleep through most of the day and are active early, late and around feeding. In cold weather the animals stay indoors and the outdoor views show an empty pen.
