Wonosari is the administrative centre of Gunungkidul Regency in the south of the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Java. Kodim is the short name of a military district command, and the local one, Kodim 0730, stands on Jalan Pramuka a short walk east of the central square. The road here has a black-and-white kerb on the left and a tiled pavement behind a fence on the right, while tall shade trees line the far side.

The camera sits low at the roadside, so motorcycles and cars pass close to the lens. Red-and-yellow decorations hang at the right edge of the frame, and the road curves away to the right behind them.
