Bridgewater, Nova Scotia Live Cam

Bridgewater stands where the road crosses the LaHave River, twenty kilometres up from the Atlantic on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. The camera looks over the downtown from the tower of the town hall.

The river is tidal and navigable this far, which is what put the town here; timber came down it and ships were built on it. The largest employer now is a Michelin tyre plant, opened in 1971 on the edge of a town of about 9,000 people.

King Street runs along the near bank and Old Bridge Street crosses in the middle of the view. Lunenburg, whose old town is a UNESCO site, is twenty kilometres east along the coast.
