Intersection of May St N & Victoria Ave E, Thunder Bay Live Cam

May Street crosses Victoria Avenue in the older half of Thunder Bay, on the north shore of Lake Superior. The camera looks down on the junction from a building above it.

The city is two towns bolted together: Fort William and Port Arthur merged in 1970 and argued over the name, settling in the end on the bay itself. This junction is in the Fort William half.

Terry Fox ran out of road just east of here in September 1980, 5,373 kilometres into a run across Canada on one leg, and a monument stands at the spot. The grain elevators along the waterfront once made this the busiest grain port in the world.
