São José - State of Santa Catarina Live Cam

The BR-101 runs north and south through São José, on the mainland side of greater Florianópolis in southern Brazil. The webcam looks down on the carriageways from a shopfront beside them.

This road is the coastal spine of the country: 4,650 kilometres through twelve states, from Touros in Rio Grande do Norte to São José do Norte in the far south. Around Florianópolis it is also the only through route, so it carries local commuting and national freight at the same time.

São José is older than most of what it now serves. Azorean families were settled here in 1750, and the town gave ground to the capital across the bay as the metropolitan area grew up around it.
