The Strip runs north from Treasure Island past the Venetian and the Wynn, in the view this camera holds. The bell tower in the foreground is a copy of the one in Venice.

Nothing on this street lasts. Casinos here are demolished and rebuilt on something like a thirty-year cycle, usually by implosion and usually with an audience; the Sands, the Dunes, the Stardust and the Riviera all stood within sight of this camera.

The themed era began in 1989 with a volcano across the road that erupted on the hour. Treasure Island ran a pirate battle in a lagoon out front for twenty years, and both of them have since been built over.
