Urzáiz Street, Vigo Live Cam

Rúa de Urzaiz is the main shopping street of Vigo, on the Atlantic coast of Galicia in north-west Spain. The webcam looks down its length from above the shopfronts.

Vigo lands more fish than any port in Europe by value, and the ría in front of it is lined with the freezer terminals and canneries that go with it. The city grew from a village to three hundred thousand people on that trade and on a car plant.

The Cíes Islands close the mouth of the ría and are a national park with a limit on daily visitors. Under the water at the narrows lie the wrecks of the treasure fleet sunk in 1702, which people have been trying to salvage ever since.
