Bolshoy Gostiny Dvor Live Cam

Gostiny Dvor takes up an entire block of Nevsky Prospekt in the middle of St Petersburg, in the north of Russia. The webcam looks along the arcades and the traffic outside them.

The building went up between 1761 and 1785 as a merchants' yard: a two-storey ring of arcaded galleries with the shops behind them, built round a courtyard for storage. It is among the oldest purpose-built shopping arcades anywhere and has never stopped trading.

The perimeter runs to about a kilometre. It kept selling through the siege of the city, was hit by shells, and was repaired and reopened as a department store afterwards.
