Lighthouse View, Biloxi Live Cam

The cast-iron Biloxi Lighthouse stands on the central reservation of Beach Boulevard, with the Mississippi Sound behind it. Traffic on the highway crosses the frame in both directions.

The tower went up in 1848 and has outlasted every hurricane since, including Katrina, whose surge went well above the door. It has become the emblem the city puts on everything, and the webcam looks straight at it from across the junction with Porter Avenue.

The beach beyond the road is man-made: sand was pumped along this shore in the early 1950s to protect the seawall, and it now runs for twenty-six miles. Lighthouse Park and its pavilion occupy the ground on the near side.
