Vulica Zubačova 2, Brest Live Cam

The junction of Zubačova Street and Heroes of the Defence of Brest Fortress Street lies on the western side of Brest, in Belarus. The camera looks over the traffic with the fortress grounds close by.

The fortress was built in the 1830s where the Mukhavets meets the Bug and was overrun in the first days of the invasion of 1941, though parts of the garrison held out inside it for weeks. The memorial complex laid over the ruins in 1971 is among the largest in the former Soviet Union.

Brest is also where the railway gauge changes. Trains from Poland stop at the border station to have their bogies swapped or their passengers moved across, which has made the city a freight bottleneck for a century and a half.
