Northampton, United States (USA)

Northampton is a city in western Massachusetts and the seat of Hampshire County, set near the Connecticut River about 30 km north of Springfield. It is home to Smith College, a women's college founded in 1871, and Calvin Coolidge was mayor of the city before he became President of the United States. The town was settled in 1654, and its downtown has the Academy of Music, a theatre that opened in 1891.
