Clevedon is a seaside town in North Somerset, in south-west England, on the shore of the Severn Estuary, with about 21,000 residents. The town already appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 and grew into a seaside resort in the Victorian era. Its pier, opened in 1869 and 312 metres long, was called "the most beautiful pier in England" by the poet John Betjeman. Clevedon lies among low hills crossed by footpaths, and the path known as Poets' Walk recalls the visits of Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Alfred Tennyson.
