Clarion Hotel Golden Horn, Istanbul Live Cam

The Golden Horn opens out below this webcam from the northern shore of the inlet, in Istanbul in Turkey. White tent roofs of the miniature park fill the foreground, and the inlet curves away between wooded parks and dense housing.

The Golden Horn is a drowned river valley off the Bosphorus that formed the harbour of the city for two thousand years; it was heavily polluted by industry and was cleaned up from the 1980s onwards. The parks along both banks in this frame date from that work.

Ferries run up the inlet from the Bosphorus and the bridges cross it further east. The light comes across the water in the late afternoon, which is when the far shore stands out best.
