Gausta Skisenter, Norway Live Cam

The slopes of Gausta ski centre fall away below this webcam towards the valley at Rjukan, in Telemark in Norway. A resort sign stands on the piste in the foreground, and the valley floor lies in shadow far below.

Gaustatoppen, the peak above the resort at 1,883 metres, is the highest in the region and is said to give a view over a sixth of the country on the clearest days. A funicular built inside the mountain in the 1950s runs to the summit.

Rjukan below sits so deep in its valley that the sun does not reach the town in winter, and mirrors were installed on the mountainside in 2013 to reflect light onto its square. The ski season here runs into April.
