Akureyri Iceland Brewery Live Cam

Akureyri lies at the head of Eyjafjörður, the longest fjord in Iceland, sixty kilometres in from the open sea. The webcam looks over the harbour and the industrial spit from a brewery on Hjalteyrargata.

This is the second town of Iceland, with about nineteen thousand people, which counts as a city here. The mountains on either side shelter it enough that trees grow: the botanical garden keeps species that will not survive in Reykjavík.

The red lights at the traffic signals in the town are shaped like hearts, put up after the financial crash of 2008 as a piece of municipal cheering-up and never taken down again. Akureyri sits about a hundred kilometres south of the Arctic Circle.
