Park of Nations, Criciúma Live Cam

The Parque das Nações is the largest city park in Santa Catarina, laid out on the eastern side of Criciúma. The webcam turns over the paths, the palms and the road along one edge.

Criciúma was built on coal. The largest coal basin in Brazil runs under this part of the state, and the mines that made the city also poisoned its rivers; a federal case running since 1993 has been forcing the companies to clean them up.

The park is named for the communities that came to work those mines, Italian, Polish, German and Portuguese, each with a pavilion of its own. The city has about two hundred thousand people.
