Province of Burgos, Spain

The Province of Burgos lies in northern Spain, in the northeast of Castile and León, with about 360,000 residents and the city of Burgos as its capital. Its lands were the cradle of the medieval County of Castile, and Burgos was an early capital of the Kingdom of Castile. The province has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Gothic Burgos Cathedral, the Atapuerca site with some of the oldest human remains in Europe, and the Way of Saint James. Its landscapes range from the Cantabrian Mountains in the north to the vineyards of the Ribera del Duero in the south.
