Agadir faces the Atlantic along a crescent of beach some ten kilometres long, backed by a promenade that is younger than it looks: the earthquake of February 1960 destroyed the old town and the city was rebuilt to the south of it. The camera follows the bay, with the marina at the northern end and, on the hill above, the walls of Agadir Oufella — the surviving kasbah, where an inscription reads God, Country, King. Morocco keeps UTC+1: the Atlantic holds the temperature steady all year, mornings often begin under an ocean haze that burns off by midday, and the swell that draws surfers to Taghazout and Tamraght rolls in just up the coast.
