The state of Jalisco, formally the Free and Sovereign State of Jalisco (Estado Libre y Soberano de Jalisco) is in Western Mexico, bordered by the states of Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Michoacan and Zacatecas, and it is bathed by the Pacific Ocean. Along the coast, there are great beach destinations, being Puerto Vallarta one of the most famous. Around the huge Lake Chapala there are also resorts and adventures to live, as well as in the mountains of the state. Guadalajara is the state capital, an economic hub, and especially tourist attractive for its culture, colonial plazas and landmarks. The tequila and the mariachi music were born in Jalisco, so expect the best from the towns in this state!
