Live Cams in Yamagata Prefecture

Yamagata Prefecture, Japan

Yamagata Prefecture lies in the southwest of the Tohoku region on the Sea of Japan, bordered by Akita, Miyagi, Fukushima and Niigata. Its capital is the city of Yamagata, and its population has recently fallen just below one million. The Mogami River, one of Japan's three fastest rivers, flows across the prefecture to the sea at Sakata, and the three sacred peaks of Dewa Sanzan are an old centre of mountain worship. The prefecture grows most of Japan's cherries and is known for the frost-covered trees of Zao and the mountain temple of Yamadera.
