Çalış Beach, Fethiye Live Cam

Çalış is the long beach north of Fethiye, on the Mediterranean coast of Muğla province in south-west Turkey. The webcam looks across the lawn and the promenade to the sea.

The bay in front is full of islands, and the sun sets between them, which is what the promenade fills up for. Boats work out of the town to the twelve islands and to the drowned bays along the coast.

Fethiye was Telmessos, and Lycian tombs are cut into the cliff directly above the modern town, the largest of them carved as a temple front in the fourth century BC. The town below it is new: an earthquake in 1957 flattened almost all of it.
